Manlug meeting June 2002

15th June 2002

Automatic network configuration with DHCP

Simon Hobson

Summary

A brief introduction to how network addresses and other vital information can be configured automatically with DHCP. I will be sticking mainly to the basics (i.e., what I know) and what I have used in a commercial environment, but I intend having a question and answer session. I hope also to demonstrate one or two of the pitfalls!

Wireless Networking

Tim Fletcher

Summary

I have spent some time recently playing with wireless (802.11b) and Linux (and OpenBSD too). I now have a running Linux based AP, a laptop with working wireless and also wireless monitoring. I can talk about what I have found about wireless networking and linux and how I found it. Also just how wildly insecure wireless networks are.
